What Happens on Your Crawley CBT?
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) is designed to develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to begin riding safely. The training covers five elements, progressing from safety and motorcycle controls through off-road riding and then supervised riding on public roads.
- Introduction, safety briefing and motorcycle controls
- Practical riding skills and manoeuvres in the off-road training area
- Road awareness, planning and preparation for riding in traffic
- An on-road ride of at least two hours with your instructor, when you are ready
- A debrief and, if you have reached the required standard, issue of your CBT certificate
The Crawley site allows riders to build confidence in a spacious practice area before moving onto quieter roads. During the road ride, your instructor stays in radio contact. CBT is training, not a guaranteed pass on the day, and additional training may be needed.
